2ND ANNUAL FORUM THINK TANK

I recently had an opportunity to attend my first Think Tank, hosted by the Forum for People Performance Management and Measurement. I was very impressed with the both the attendees that participated in the success of the event, and the individuals that coordinated it. While I have been very familiar with the Forum’s work for many years, I had not previously attended an event. I was looking forward to my first interaction with the members and learning about the recent research that the Forum has released. My expectations were exceeded.

The day began with a presentation by Frank Mulhern, a PhD from Northwestern University, that focused on the factors that influence our “Economic Life after the Great Recession”. The content was eye opening and very compelling. With good dialog among participants throughout the day, the next session was cleverly named “It’s All About the Employee, Genius!” which targeted key messages that leaders must know in order to effectively drive a culture of high engagement in their workforce.

For me, the highlight of the day was the Keynote presentation by Michael Lee Stallard and Jason Pankau. Michael is the author of Fired Up or Burned Out which is an interesting book on the topics of employee engagement, motivation, performance, innovation and building long-term successful careers. Their presentation was very good and I enjoyed hearing their perspectives. I also liked Jason’s flavor of humor and satire.

I am looking forward to the next Forum event and being a part of this organization in the future.
